your cake journey

I’m lucky to receive lots of lovely feedback after delivering a wedding cake, and couples often mention how much they’ve enjoyed their cake journey. This can be as straightforward or involved as any consultation: some clients simply email an image of some flowers and a short ‘along these lines’ message; and others really get involved with lots of input at every stage.

Try before you buy

Most couples receive sample cakes in the post, after a consultation. Wedding cakes are available in vanilla, lemon, chocolate, red velvet and carrot.

I don’t bake the cakes myself; I have them delivered from a specialist bakery, where staff have devised amazing recipes that taste delicious and remain fresh for the duration of the decorating process and beyond.

All cakes are decorated with my own recipe vanilla Italian meringue buttercream or delicious sculpted white chocolate ganache.

Consultation

At the moment, consultations are held via Zoom and I don’t see this changing in the near future.

It’s always a good idea to have invitations, scraps of bridesmaid dress fabric, images of flowers that may be used to dress the venue and so on to hand for this: all can be used to inform the design of the cake, which should bring all these visual elements together to create a stunning centrepiece.

Following this meeting I’ll send over a sketch of how I would approach your cake, with a quote. As a general guide, a three tier cake to serve 100 will start from £980. You can request a box of sample cakes at any stage. These are £30 posted and £25 collected. The charge will be deducted from your final payment should you order a cake.

Your Unique Design

Your cake design may work better in sculpted ganache or Italian meringue buttercream. Ganache is more stable and allows me to sculpt large 3d flowers. Buttercream is softer and creates a more painterly finish. It’s often the choice for a more modern, abstract design - perhaps if you wanted to incorporate a floral motif from your dress or invitations.

If the you are happy with the design, I’ll send an invoice for a non-refundable booking fee of £180, which will secure a date. The balance of the total amount payable is due 28 days before delivery.
